Chautauqua Lake Real Estate is off to a great start in 2011!

Chautauqua Lake Real Estate is off to a great start despite the lagging prices in other areas.   Data is only considering single family Lake Front homes based on Chautauqua County multiple listing systems (MLS).  

Comparing the first 50 days of 2010 to the first 50 days of 2011 Chautauqua Lake Front home sales have soared.

 

 January 1st to February 19th 2010, based on the Chautauqua County MLS systems had recorded 4 closed transactions.

 

In 2011 from January 1st to February 19th the Chautauqua County MLS system recorded 15 transactions. This accounts for a 250 percent JUMP in closed listings for the first 50 days of the year. 

 

Compared below is the average closed price.

 Ice Castle Stays Dark 

MAYVILLE - If sub-freezing temperatures return to Mayville today, people will be able to enjoy the ice castle better than they did Friday.

Because of the unseasonably warm temperatures and strong winds that were gusting to around 40 mph, the grand lighting ceremony for the ice castle scheduled for Friday evening was canceled.

Matt Terrill, of Digital eXtravaganza-Kool Toonz and ice castle committee member, said the winds and the warm weather was too much for the ice castle.

Terrill and Kevin Callahan, Digital eXtravaganza-Kool Toonz spokesperson, said they had the lights ready and kept trying to rebuild the castle prior to the lighting ceremony, but the castle kept falling apart with the structure's walls and towers…

Chautauqua Institution Midweek Vespers Set

David Allen Coester

CHAUTAUQUA- Hurlbut Community Church in Chautauqua Institution will feature special guest David Allen Coester at its midweek vespers worship service on Wednesday. The weekly family music and arts worship events will begin with a 5:30 p.m. dinner, with the service beginning at 6 p.m.

A native of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Coester began playing the guitar when he was a teenager and soon thereafter became a member of a high-school rock 'n' roll band. Later, when introduced to classical guitar, he completely altered his musical direction, and he now specializes in classical music.

Coester earned both Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Since then, he has continued music…
