We Wan Chu Cottages announces the first annual Chautauqua Lake Bigfoot Expo to be held Sunday, May 6th at the Chautauqua Suites including national Bigfoot speakers, local Bigfoot expeditions, adult and child friendly activities, and a golf tournament at WoodCrest Golf Course on Saturday, May 5th. Andy Dawes from Bemus Point Pottery will be making the Bigfoot Trophies for the events. Not only does David Wesp, chairman of the 14th annual antique and classic boat show, enjoy his antique, but he wants to pass the passion he has for it along to others.
"It's a beautiful thing ... to get a boat done, enjoy the lake and have others enjoy it," he said. Wesp began his love of antique boats when he started work to restore his first, at 16 years old.
"It became a passion," he said. Restoring the boats is a passion he shares with his family.
Twenty-six years ago, in fact, he asked his wife to marry him ... on the boat that he said will some day belong to his daughter, who shares his passion for working and riding on the vessel, along with traveling to boat shows with her father.

JHS Orchestra To Hold Concert Saturday

The Jamestown High School Concert Orchestra will hold its annual spring concert at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Merton P. Corwin Auditorium at Jamestown High School. The string and full orchestras will perform pieces including the allegro movement from "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" by W.A. Mozart, "Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin, "The Great Gate of Kiev" by M. Moussorgsky and music from the motion picture "Pirates of the Caribbean." The performance will be given in memory of Russell L. Johnson, former JHS orchestra director, and will include a tribute as well. David Allen Coester
CHAUTAUQUA- Hurlbut Community Church in Chautauqua Institution will feature special guest David Allen Coester at its midweek vespers worship service on Wednesday. The weekly family music and arts worship events will begin with a 5:30 p.m. dinner, with the service beginning at 6 p.m.
A native of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Coester began playing the guitar when he was a teenager and soon thereafter became a member of a high-school rock 'n' roll band. Later, when introduced to classical guitar, he completely altered his musical direction, and he now specializes in classical music.
Coester earned both Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Since then, he has continued music…

Chautauqua Rib-Fest Kicks Off In Celoron Today

CELORON - There will be some familiar faces behind the barbecue Wednesday when the 2010 Celoron Rib-Fest & Classic Car Show begins.
Four of the five vendors that were part of last year's rib fest in Celoron will be returning, preparing barbecue cuisine from pulled pork, full and half-rack ribs and more items featuring specialty sauces.
The Celoron Rib-Fest Committee announces the national touring rib teams returning to Lucille Ball Memorial Park starting Wednesday will be Sgt. Oink's BBQ Co., My Happy Place and Smokin' Joe's Hog Wild Barbeque. Also, local Jamestown vendor Bulldog Barbeque will also be returning. New this year to the Celoron rib fest will be the Hog Wild BBQ Co. from Warren.

Legendary comedian Bob Newhart returns to Chautauqua Institution to close the 2010 Season with an Amphitheater performance on Saturday, Aug. 28.
Newhart's career has spanned two-successful television shows and 14 feature films. He has sold millions of comedy albums worldwide and still performs to sell-out crowds all over the country. With his dry wit and wry smile, he continues to bring warmth and laughter to generations of fans.
Tickets are now on sale and preferred seating is available. Orders can be placed online 24 hours a day or by phone, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday by calling (716) 357-6250. You may also purchase tickets in person at Chautauqua's Main Gate Box Office during these hours.
