CELORON - There will be some familiar faces behind the barbecue Wednesday when the 2010 Celoron Rib-Fest & Classic Car Show begins.
Four of the five vendors that were part of last year's rib fest in Celoron will be returning, preparing barbecue cuisine from pulled pork, full and half-rack ribs and more items featuring specialty sauces.
The Celoron Rib-Fest Committee announces the national touring rib teams returning to Lucille Ball Memorial Park starting Wednesday will be Sgt. Oink's BBQ Co., My Happy Place and Smokin' Joe's Hog Wild Barbeque. Also, local Jamestown vendor Bulldog Barbeque will also be returning. New this year to the Celoron rib fest will be the Hog Wild BBQ Co. from Warren.
The 2010 Celoron Rib-Fest & Classic Car Show will be held on Chautauqua Lake today through Saturday. The hours will be from 3 to 10 p.m. today and Thursday, though the national rib cooking teams will also serve lunch on those days. On Friday and Saturday the hours are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Other foods at the festival include fries, "bloomin" onions, waffle cakes, candy apples, cotton candy, chocolate covered strawberries, soda pop, lemonade, chicken fingers, pizza and ice cream.
For this year's event there will again be a beer tent and new this year there will be a wine tasting featuring the Willow Creek Winery as part of the event. Located in Silver Creek, Willow Creek has a complete list of standard wines from dry reds and whites to oak aged sweets to semi-sweets and a number of specialty wines. In coordination with Paradise Yacht Cruises, the unique wine tasting event will be held on board The Summer Wind.
The committee said the festival will also feature live musical performances during each day of the event, with two bands performing today and Thursday and three bands playing Friday and Saturday.
There will also be events specifically held for motorcycle and car enthusiasts, with a dice run and classic car show. Friday there will be a "Bike Night" offering special parking on the boulevard for motorcycles. On Saturday, the event will feature a dice run with registration beginning at 9 a.m., departing at 11 a.m. and a classic car show with registration from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Awards will be presented at 5 p.m. in the Desi Arnaz Bandshell.
The event will also feature a "Kids Zone" with fun activities for children. Community organizations the Celoron Hose Company No. 1 and the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association are helping with the festival.
CARTS will be providing bus transportation from Jamestown, Falconer, and Lakewood to the park at nominal cost.
Village officials said one of the unique aspects of this year's event is that all proceeds will stay either in the Celoron community or will benefit organizations such as the Southwestern Area Youth Baseball.
